Trekking in the mountains of Lake Maggiore, along the Alta Via Del Lago Maggiore, from Mergozzo to Cannobio. Traveling through one of the most scenic areas on Verbania and Lake Maggiore.

TOUR DESCRIPTION:

Trekking on the Alta Via of Lake Maggiore, from Mergozzo (195 m) to Cannobio (214) along the mountains that form the border between Lake Maggiore and the Val Grande National Park, with breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore and inside the park.

 

DAY 1: Departure from Mergozzo (195 m) and arrival at Alpe Ompio at the Fantoli Refuge (1005 m), where we will stop for the first night, to get to Alpe Ompio we will climb the mountain Faie (1352 m) very panoramic peak of the Val Grande National Park. 

 

DAY 2: Departure from Alpe Ompio (1005 m) and arrival at the Piancavallone hut (1503 m), during this day we will have to descend to the town of Cossogno and then go up to the other side, we will then hike the beautiful and large ridge that from Monte Todum leads us to Piancavallone where we will spend the night.

 

DAY 3: From the refuge we will immediately begin the climb, a little more technical, towards the Cima della Marona and Monte Zeda, along the beautiful ridge, always with a breathtaking view of Lake Maggiore and the park, from Monte Zeda (2156 m. sl.m) we will go down to the Pian Vadà bivouac where we will spend the night.

 

DAY 4: From the Pian Vadà bivouac we will descend to Cannobio, with a nice descent of 1500 m first on the Cadorna Line, then on paths.

 From Cannobio return by public transport to Mergozzo.

 

We can also do this tour with an overnight stay in a bivouac instead of huts , in this case we will also need to bring food and sleeping pad in your backpack.
