ENTRY INTO VAL GRANDE

ENTRY INTO VAL GRANDE

Period : MAY - JUNE / SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER

3-day trek in the lower Val Grande, between the historic pastures of the park and the border ridges with breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore.

CHARACTERISTICS

IN breve

  • COSTS: click here

DAY 1: ROVEGRO - CORTE BUÈ

Meeting in Rovegro, from where we will begin to walk from the village, to reach Corte Buè (858 m asl) where we will spend the first night.

ASCENT: 1000 m

DURATION : 5 hours

DAY 2: CORTE BUÈ - CICOGNA

After breakfast we will leave for the second stage, the "capital" of the park: Cicogna (732m asl), in this stage we will pass through various pastures now abandoned in the beautiful woods of the Val Grande.

ASCENT: 600 m

DURATION : 6 hours

DAY 3: CICOGNA - ROVEGRO

Third stage of our trek, starting from Cicogna we will descend first to Rio Pogallo, from here we will begin the climb towards the Piancavallone saddle, another very panoramic area. From here we will walk down to Rovegro.

ASCENT: 1000 m

DIFFICULTY: (E/EE) The trek does not present particular technical difficulties, however it develops along paths that are sometimes steep, the stages also have significant differences in height, and are therefore suitable for those who have a minimum of training in walking in the mountains.

VARIANTS : CIMA SASSO

If you have an extra day available, you can add the climb to Cima Sasso da Cicogna, which is certainly worth it, being in the heart of the park and with a breathtaking view.

Or you can plan to replace the climb to Piancavallone with Cima Sasso, thus not adding days to the trek. In this last case, however, it is necessary to plan an extra night at the Ostello a Cicogna.

The alternatives are obviously only possible if the whole group accepts these variations.
